Sunday's adventure (another Fat bike ride)

I'ts only May 2nd, and I'm already tired of snakes in the trails. I know that I sit up way to high for them to bother me, but like most people they still startle me and I feel like I am riding on "high alert" the rest of my ride. So yesterday I decided to set out on one of the fire roads not far from my house. I did my homework, I pulled the road up on google maps to see where it lead to, and it looked like a fun adventure. I had my wife drop me off at the beginning of the road, and told her to give me a few hours and then come back and pick me up. This ride was the most fun I've had in a while, just riding along exploring the unknown, an adventure ride of sorts.

I knew from google maps that there were several man-made ponds down the fire-road, and that there were several roads that split off from this road. I also found several dirt mounts where they dug the ponds that had to be 20 feet tall... Then I started running across several trails off of the fire-road, probably hunting roads. Some were marked with "No Trespassing" signs, and some not. Here's a few pictures from one of the ones that had no gate or signs.

Each trail seemed to lead to another adventure, and time flew by. I doubled back to the fire road and began my trip back to meet my wife, and decided to cut through a back entrance to a neighborhood I had passed. I didn't want to ride paved roads, but I knew it would be the quickest way to our rendezvous point. And that's when I discovered probably the coolest part of my entire adventure.... check out the photos....

This is part of the shared usage trail at Brunswick Forest, which is a 4mile loop for people to jog, ride, walk etc. I have to give kudo's for the people who did the section through the woods, it's absolutely amazing, it has the sections pictured above, one section called the Nature Trail Loop" that loops off of this and an out door class room. It's nice to see developers adding stuff like this into the newer communities.

What a great adventure, I can't wait to see where my next adventure leads.....

see you in the trails!
